Cypress Gets First Men’s Basketball Win

Cypress held off a late surge by Cuyamaca to win, 80-77, in men’s basketball Wednesday at Cypress College.

Tony Senteno made two free throws with 13 seconds remaining to put Cypress ahead by three. Kim Valenzuela of Cuyamaca attempted a three-pointer but it fell short to end the game and give Cypress its first win of the season.

Adam Rachlin had 25 points and D. Jay Lucas had 21 for Cypress (1-4).

In another nonconference game:

Orange Coast 104, El Camino 93--Nick Burwell scored 45 points to lead visiting Orange Coast to its first victory.

In nonconference women’s basketball:

Fullerton 71, Palomar 62--Tammy Yonamine scored 25 points to lead Fullerton (2-2). Carrie Banister, formerly of Loara, scored 16 points for the Hornets.

Oni Mauga had 17 points to lead Palomar (3-3).
