Liberty Christian 14, La Verne Lutheran 13 (OT)

Running back Mike Spagnola caught a 25-yard touchdown pass in overtime, then caught the winning two-point conversion for Liberty Christian in an Express League eight-man game at La Verne Lutheran High.

The Minutemen scored the first touchdown of the game in the third quarter when quarterback Nick Harbert hit sophomore fullback Brandon Burch for a 30-yard touchdown pass, but La Verne Lutheran tied the score early in the fourth quarter.

After La Verne Lutheran scored to take the lead in overtime, Harbert hit Spagnola with a touchdown pass to draw the Minutemen within a point, then hit Spagnola for the two-point conversion.

Spagnola finished with 125 yards rushing in 27 carries and also recovered two fumbles.

Liberty Christian (2-1, 1-0) plays Eastside Christian Saturday. La Verne Lutheran is 1-2-1, 1-1.
