Second-Ranked Villa Park Beats Canyon in Girls’ Golf

Juniors Priscilla Park and Shelly Raworth each shot par 36 Monday at Anaheim Hills as No. 2 Villa Park routed Canyon, 119-155, in Century League girls’ golf.

Raworth had two birdies and Park one on their way to co-medalist honors. Park carded a three on the par-four second hole and Raworth had fours on both par-five holes in the round.

Theresa Vos shot 47 for Canyon (4-7, 2-2).

Villa Park is 10-0 overall, 4-0 in league.

In another Century League match:

El Modena 152, Orange 156--Senior Lindsay Broad shot a 12-over 47 at Willowick to help El Modena (7-3, 3-2) to the victory. Orange’s Jamie Abrahams was the medalist, shooting a 46. The Panthers are 8-5, 2-3 in league.

In the Pacific Coast League:

No. 1 University 134, Northwood 161--Senior Sunny Lee shot a five-over 41 to medal for undefeated University at Rancho San Joaquin. The Trojans (10-0, 5-0) also got a 42 from junior Angela Won. Amanda Ching’s 53 was the lowest score for Northwood (2-4, 2-3).

In the Serra League:

Santa Margarita 117, Torrance Bishop Montgomery 126--Senior Megan Mulhaupt shot a one-over 37 to medal and help Santa Margarita to the victory at Tijeras Creek. Brenda Progar had a 40 for the Eagles (10-1, 4-0).

In the Newport Harbor golf tournament:

Redondo Union wins--Elena Kurokawa shot a one-over 60 to help Redondo Beach Redondo Union to a 189 team score and the victory at Newport Beach Golf Course. Lindsay Galbraith of Newport Harbor, Stella Lee of Irvine and Miriana Choi of Redondo Union each shot a 64 to finish tied for second.

Newport Harbor, unranked in the county, took second (203) and Irvine, ranked seventh in the county, finished third (207).

In nonleague girls’ golf:

Marina 284, Tustin 372--Lisa Sweller had three birdies to finish with a 12-over 84 and medal for Marina at Tustin Ranch and Meadowlark golf courses.

In nonleague girls’ tennis:

Garden Grove 15, Valencia 3--Garden Grove got sweeps from the doubles teams of Jeanie Kong and Susie Sin, Diana Tran and Hong Ton and Stephanie Delrosario and Drexelle Ponce. The host Argonauts (7-6) also got a singles sweep from Hanh Tran. Valencia is 7-5.

In nonleague boys’ water polo:

Troy 16, Western 6--Troy scored 10 of its 16 points in the first half. T.C. McClusky had seven goals and Kevin Koskie had five to lead the Warriors (12-5). Josh Hower had three goals for Western.

David Mahakian had 14 saves for Troy.
