Chatsworth Girls in Seventh Heaven

Linda Wang had 20 kills, 16 blocks and 27 digs, and Chatsworth High rallied to win its seventh consecutive West Valley League girls’ volleyball title Tuesday at Taft.

Game scores were 15-13, 12-15, 8-15, 15-7, 15-9.

Chatsworth (10-1, 8-0 in league play) took a 10-1 lead in game five and held off a late Toreador charge.

K.C. Doig had 19 kills and nine blocks, Heather Rizzo had 17 kills, Leila Pate had 23 digs and four aces, and Carlie Allison added 79 assists and 18 digs for Chatsworth.

Pat Rungratanasunthorn had 17 kills and Shelly Rom 12 for Taft (8-2, 6-2).

In other girls’ volleyball matches:

Poly def. Grant, 15-12, 15-4, 14-16, 15-3--Jennifer Alfaro and Sonia Torres each had 20 kills to help the Parrots clinch the Sunset Six League title at Poly.

Alfaro also contributed nine digs. Gaby Arvizu had 17 digs, Ruby Castillo had 49 assists and Lisa Conner had five aces for Poly (10-1, 8-0).

Verdugo Hills def. Hollywood, 15-5, 15-3, 15-4--Sarah Girard had 10 of 26 aces by Verdugo Hills in a Sunset Six League match at Hollywood (0-10, 0-8).

Verdugo Hills is 8-3, 5-3.

La Canada def. San Marino, 15-8, 15-4, 15-3--Tracy Neumeier had 23 assists and Vanessa Young had eight kills for the Spartans (15-2, 7-0) in a Rio Hondo League victory at La Canada.

GIRLS’ TENNIS

Granada Hills 7, El Camino Real 0--The Highlanders (11-0, 8-0) gave up only one game in singles and one game in doubles in a West Valley League victory at Granada Hills.

No. 1 player Jasmin Dao defeated Victoria Wong, 8-1, and Dao’s sister, Christine Dao, Canna Furuta and Yuka Otaka won their matches by 8-0 scores.

Robin Meselson and Jessica Lee of Granada Hills defeated Janelle Kulik and Jailyn Ross, 8-1, in doubles.

Reseda 4, Monroe 3--Chureeporn Arunrut , Kate Luenprakansit , Kaelynn Wang and Wendy Levine gave the Regents (5-6, 4-4) a sweep of the singles matches in a Valley Mission League match at Reseda.

Grant 7, Hollywood 0--Shayna Fox defeated Alisa Adamyan , 8-3, at No. 1 singles to improve her record to 11-0 for the Lancers (6-6, 5-4) in a Sunset Six League match.

WOMEN’S SOCCER

Antelope Valley 3, Desert 0--Elyse Webb made two saves, and Candice Pourghahreman, Erin McDaniel and Dionne Werthmann scored second-half goals for the Marauders (9-6-1, 5-3-1) in a Foothill Conference game at Lancaster Soccer Complex.

Cuesta 1, Oxnard 1--Priscilla Olsen took a crossing pass from Anna McCrosky and scored from three yards in the 86th minute to get the Condors (15-2-2, 8-2-1) even in a Western State Conference Northern Division game at Oxnard.

Cal Lutheran 3, La Verne 1--Jennifer Agostino, Ciera Diaz and Betsy Fisch scored to help the Regals (16-3, 11-0) clinch their 10th consecutive Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship at Cal Lutheran.
