Channel Islands 41, Santa Barbara 34--Channel Islands stopped running back Mark Ruiz on the three-yard line as time expired to preserve the victory at Channel Islands.

Channel Islands (3-5) led, 41-20, before the Dons (2-6) scored 14 consecutive points in the fourth quarter.

Preston Maloney of Santa Barbara connected with Jerren Kauka for a 14-yard touchdown with less than a minute to play. Santa Barbara recovered the ensuing onside kick and marched 42 yards in seven plays before Ruiz was stopped on second and goal from the three-yard line with six seconds to play.

Augie Castaneda of Channel Islands rushed for 159 yards in nine carries, scoring on runs of 56, 65 and seven yards, before leaving the game in the fourth quarter because of an ankle injury.

Navi Preciado rushed for 110 yards in seven carries, including a 60-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.

Thousand Oaks 33, San Luis Obispo 21--Brian Hoover scored four touchdowns, three on passes from Ben Olson, and the Lancers pulled off an upset at San Luis Obispo. The Tigers were ranked No. 5 in Southern Section Division IV.

Hoover caught scoring passes of 43, 53 and 22 yards, and capped the scoring with a 92-yard kickoff return in the fourth quarter. He finished with nine catches for 167 yards.

Olson completed 21 of 41 passes for 317 yards and scored the first touchdown for Thousand Oaks 3-5) on a one-yard run.

Dave Anderson had nine catches for 86 yards for the Lancers.
