Lins Finally Settling In at Moorpark

Share

Tim Lins has lived in Moorpark since 1981 but is only now becoming comfortable with the football program.

Lins, who guided Crespi to seven playoff appearances in 10 years, took over as Moorpark High’s football coach last year and led the Musketeers to a 3-8 record.

He feels infinitely more settled this season.

“I didn’t know the kids,” Lins said. “It’s taken a while to learn everybody’s name and learn what they’re about. [Now] they know the system and the work ethic a little bit better.”

Moorpark, beginning its third year in the Marmonte League, is expected to challenge for a playoff berth.

Westlake’s inexperienced line received a big boost last week when junior Chad Henley, a transfer from Royal, was cleared to play.

The 6-foot-2, 240-pound Henley will start at defensive tackle and could see duty on the offensive line Friday night against Buena at Ventura High.

Henley was Royal’s best offensive lineman last season.
