Western Coach Toby Howell should get an early indication of just how explosive his wing-T offense will be this season. The Pioneers have been one of the county’s top scoring teams the last few years, but Loara sports an experienced defense. The Saxons are led by Rudy Acosta, an all-county defensive back who shared the county lead with 11 interceptions last season. Acosta is also dangerous at wide receiver and on special teams, scoring on an 85-yard kickoff return in Loara’s 35-28 victory over Western a year ago. Western will rely heavily on running back David Gober to keep its defense off the field.
