Granada Hills defeated Carson in last year’s City final to win its first title since 1983.

With seven of 10 players back, the Highlanders are favored to repeat.

In the Southern Section, Palos Verdes Peninsula is regarded as a threat to repeat as champion and win its 10th title.

Santa Ana Mater Dei is seeking its third consecutive Division II championship. Other defending champions are North Hollywood Harvard Westlake in Division III, Calabasas (IV) and Laguna Beach (V).

Luana Magnani of San Marino is the defending Southern Section singles champion.
