Siraki of Hoover Earns State Honor

Anita Siraki of Hoover was selected the state girls’ athlete of the week by Cal Hi Sports.

Siraki ran the second fastest time in the history of the Woodbridge Invitational on Saturday, finishing the course in 16:44 to win the Division II race.

Siraki won state titles in track and cross-country last season and finished fourth in the national high school cross-country meet. Siraki won the Southern Section Division I cross-country title.

SOFTBALL

* The Millennium Softball Complex will hold a clinic for players 8 to 14 from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Rio Mesa High.

Fundamentals as well as advanced hitting and fielding techniques will be covered. Cost is $35 and each participant will get a softball T-shirt and visor.

SOCCER

* Erin Misaki, former Hart High All-American who is a sophomore at Portland, has been selected to the U.S. women’s B pool of players.

Misaki, who had three goals and four assists for Portland (7-1), played for the West in the Olympic Festival last summer.
