Los Amigos Flubs, Fumbles Hand Win to Paramount

Neither team’s offense was stellar, but Paramount took advantage of great field position late in the first half Friday night, scoring two touchdowns on its way to a 24-0 victory over Los Amigos in a nonleague game at Paramount High.

The Los Amigos offense was anemic. The Lobos (1-2) ventured into Paramount territory only once, and that was due to their defense. The Pirates had to punt from deep inside their territory and Los Amigos took over at the Paramount 43.

The Lobos couldn’t do anything with the ball. On a fourth and six, Los Amigos quarterback Matt Hardin was about to get sacked and flung the ball to the middle of the field, and into the hands of a Pirate defender.

The Lobos turned the ball over five times with three coming as a result of Hardin fumbles and bad exchanges from the center. Los Amigos was held to 138 yards. The Lobos’ lone bright spot was Emo Taula, who carried the ball 18 times for 86 yards.

The contest was a defensive struggle in the first half. The teams combined for seven punts before the Pirates finally capitalized.

Paramount (2-1) started drives in Los Amigos territory four times. On the third drive, Amir Jessie busted up the middle from 16 yards out to put the Pirates ahead.

Jessie found the end zone again on their next drive for a 14-0 halftime lead. They put the game away on their first drive of the second half with a 50-yard touchdown.
