Camarillo Grinds Out Victory Over Thousand Oaks

Loren Cerny rushed for 174 yards and four touchdowns, and Camarillo High rushed for 325 yards in a 39-20 nonleague victory Friday night at Thousand Oaks.

Camarillo (2-1) used its massive offensive line to establish the run early. Cerny carried 17 times for 81 yards in the first half, scoring on runs of two and five yards.

Quarterback Mike Jasper had runs of 41 and 38 yards in the first half, and scored on a one-yard run with 52 seconds to play in the first half to give the Scorpions a 21-7 lead.

Thousand Oaks (0-3) drove 75 yards in six plays to begin the third quarter. Ben Olson capped the march with a six-yard touchdown pass to Patrick Hoffman to pull the Lancers to within 21-14.

Camarillo, relying heavily on Cerny, scored on its next three possessions to pull away.

Cerny, a senior tailback, capped a 10-play, 54-yard drive with a three-yard run in the opening minute of the fourth quarter to give Camarillo a 32-14 lead.

Cerny ran eight yards for a touchdown to cap the scoring with 3:44 to play.

Olson completed 22 of 37 passes for 214 passing yards and two touchdowns for Thousand Oaks. Dave Anderson had 13 receptions for 122 yards.
