David Koral of Palisades High completed 39 of 59 passes for a national-record 764 yards and seven touchdowns as the Dolphins defeated host Grant, 48-30, in a nonleague game Friday.

According to the Student Sports national football record book, Koral, a senior, broke the previous record of 672 yards set last season by Rhett Lashlee of Shiloh Christian (Springdale, Ark.) in a game against Junction City.

Koral, who had one pass intercepted, had touchdown passes of 80, 15, 42, 52, 94, 90 and 34 yards, including three to Taft transfer Greig Carlson.

Carlson had nine catches for 253 yards. Charles Ealy had 16 catches for 243 yards and two touchdowns, and Eric Beegun had five receptions for 161 yards and two touchdowns for Palisades (2-1), which led, 28-3, at halftime and, 40-23, after three quarters.

The Dolphins attempted only two running plays.

Koral set a state single-season record last year with 4,895 passing yards. He has thrown for 1,439 yards in three games this season.

Koral’s heroics overshadowed an admirable performance by Perry Clayton of Grant (1-2), who rushed for 313 yards in 30 carries and scored on runs of 42 and 47 yards. Clayton also caught a 36-yard touchdown pass from Alfonso Estrada.
