Orlandini Fills a Lot of Holes for St. Francis

Joe Orlandini ran for 156 yards and two touchdowns in place of injured Matthew Milton and St. Francis High scored the final 22 points in a 35-14 victory over Santa Maria St. Joseph on Saturday night in a nonleague game at St. Francis.

Orlandini, who played running back, receiver, defensive back and long snapper, gave the Golden Knights (2-1) the lead for good , running three yards for a touchdown 14 seconds before halftime. St. Francis drove 71 yards on six plays in 58 seconds, and benefited from holding and personal foul penalties against St. Joseph (2-1).

John Sciarra completed passes of seven and 20 yards to Nathan Terrazone and 11 yards to Orlandini on the drive.

Brett Mitchell scored two second-half touchdowns, catching a 36-yard pass from Sciarra in the third quarter and running one yard in the fourth.

Sciarra completed 16 of 25 passes for 242 yards. St. Francis led, 19-13, at halftime despite a blocked punt, interception, two missed conversions and having an Mitchell’s 85-yard kickoff return for a touchdown nullified by a clipping penalty.

The Golden Knights went 68 yards on 10 plays on their first possession, capped by Orlandini’s seven-yard run.
