Lima’s Two Goals Help Cypress Top Irvine Valley

Adriano Lima scored two second-half goals and goaltender Jon Naick turned back eight shots as Cypress defeated Irvine Valley, 2-0, in an Orange Empire Conference men’s soccer game Tuesday at Irvine Valley.

Lima scored the first goal one minute into the second half off an assist from Freddy Rosales, and later scored on a penalty kick in the 73rd minute to seal the victory for Cypress (5-2-3, 2-0 in conference).

Irvine Valley is 3-5-2, 0-2.

In other conference games:

Orange Coast 2, Riverside 1--Despite playing a man down for 58 minutes, Orange Coast (5-1-4, 1-0-1) still won. Aaron Siemers scored the game-winner in the 53rd minute off an assist from Chance Daniel. Siemers also had an assist on Jesus Cervantes’ goal in the fifth minute.

Santa Ana 7, Golden West 0--Alex Licea scored two first-half goals for the host Saints (7-0-3, 2-0), who posted their seventh shutout.

Santiago Canyon 3, Fullerton 1--Beau Lawson, Ryan Sullivan and Justin Yankauskas scored for Santiago Canyon (5-2-1, 1-1).

Fullerton is 3-4-1, 0-1-1.

In Orange Empire Conference women’s soccer:

Cypress 6, Irvine Valley 0--Breanne Crowley and Tymarie Novak scored two goals each and Ali Nunez had three assists for host Cypress (12-0, 2-0).

Orange Coast 4, Riverside 2--The Pirates got three first-half goals from Katie Ogden, Christina Guerin and Blair Sperry, to take a 3-1 lead. Meredith Miles added the final goal in the 89th minute for Orange Coast (7-3-1, 2-0).

Santa Ana 7, Golden West 0--Ana Velazquez had two goals and three assists and Ana Medina added two goals for visiting Santa Ana (5-3-3, 1-1).

Santiago Canyon 3, Fullerton 1--Patty Romano scored twice for host Santiago Canyon (2-3-1, 1-1).
