Wolverines Court a Victory
Katelyn Rader, Shilpa Madhaven and Molly McLucas all won two of three singles sets to lead the Harvard-Westlake High girls’ tennis team to its first victory of the season, 11-7, over San Marino Wednesday at Studio City Golf and Tennis.
The Wolverines (1-2) won five of eight doubles sets. Their No. 1 team of Zelda Harris and Isabel Bussarakum won two of three sets, as did the No. 2 team of Jennifer Jason and Lisa Becker. Liz Kim and Katie Herod won their third set, 7-5.
Luana Magnani swept three singles sets for San Marino (0-6).
North Hollywood 5, Grant 2--Christine Chung and Sonia Lee beat Yiselca Collins and Natalia Sandoval, 8-3, to lead a doubles sweep for the Huskies (2-2) in a Sunset Six League opener at North Hollywood.
BOYS’ WATER POLO
Crescenta Valley 19, Arcadia 5--David Mulcahey and Ben Tickner each had four goals, and Mike Hoy had seven saves for the No. 3-ranked Falcons (10-2) in a Pacific League match at Crescenta Valley.
Thousand Oaks 6, Crespi 4--Danny Behrens and Luc Renault had three goals for the Lancers (5-6) in a nonleague victory at Thousand Oaks.
Danny Behrens had four goals and Ryan Martin had seven saves for Crespi (12-4).
GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL
Reseda def. Sherman Oaks CES, 8-15, 15-7, 15-7, 6-15, 15-11--Ashley Tacub had 16 kills and six blocks for the Regents (3-1) in a Valley Mission League victory at Sherman Oaks CES.
Katie Caparula had nine kills and four aces for Sherman Oaks CES (2-1).
Alemany def. Calabasas, 9-15, 15-12, 15-9, 15-6--Brianne Lalonde had 13 kills, seven aces and 24 digs for the Indians (4-7) in a nonleague victory at Alemany.
GIRLS’ GOLF
Agoura 137, Royal 138--The Chargers (7-3) survived a triple bogey on the ninth hole to claim a nonleague victory at Westlake Golf Course.
