Fifth-ranked Servite dominated singles play and got just enough from its doubles teams to beat third-ranked Troy, 10-8, Wednesday at Anaheim Tennis Center.

The Friars (14-0) won six singles sets, but the Warriors (13-2) took five doubles sets, including a sweep by the team of Michael Wang and Edwin Mendoza.

Pat Buchanan (35-0), Servite’s No. 1 player, swept his singles sets, including an impressive 6-4 victory against Jeffrey Das, who walked away with his first loss of the season after a 40-0 start.

“I missed easy shots on key opportunities,” Das said. “I didn’t play bad, [Buchanan] just played better. That’s the first time in a while I’ve played from behind.”

Das jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the set, but Buchanan rallied, taking the next three games and the last three for the victory.

“I just stayed focused and played my tennis,” Buchanan said of playing with a two-game deficit. “I played well enough from there to beat him.”
