Lakewood Mayfair, Agoura Win Openers

The Agoura and Lakewood Mayfair 18-and-under American Legion baseball teams opened the state playoffs with victories Saturday in Yountville.

Agoura, the District 16 champion, overcame the loss of leadoff hitter Paul Farinacci in a 10-8 victory over Danville, the defending national champion.

Farinacci, who homered on the game’s first pitch, left in the fifth inning after injuring his left knee trying to steal third.

Justin Turner had four hits, including two doubles, and five runs batted in for Mayfair, which defeated Villa Park, 8-4.
