Fullerton Hires Quinn as AD

Brian Quinn, former athletic director at Loyola Marymount, on Friday was appointed athletic director at Cal State Fullerton, effective Jan. 14.

Quinn replaces John Easterbrook, who announced his retirement in July.

“Brian has certain aspects about him that we were seeking,” Cal State Fullerton President Milton A. Gordon said in a news release. “He was the only candidate we interviewed who has been a successful Division I athletic director, and he has good fund-raising experience and knows how that effort and our athletics program can work together.”

Quinn, 60, was assistant dean and athletic director at Loyola from 1985 through 1998. During his tenure, Lion teams won nine West Coast Conference titles and advanced to the NCAA men’s basketball tournament three times. The baseball team and the women’s volleyball team each made five trips to the NCAA playoffs.

“I’m excited about this opportunity because I’ve missed being around the student-athletes and I am looking forward to returning to the world in which I am most comfortable--and in which I’ve spent most of my professional life,” Quinn said in the news release. “I like helping make a difference in people’s lives.”
