Huntington Beach Beats Mira Costa in Overtime, 3-2

Gordon Kljestan’s goal seven minutes into overtime Saturday lifted Huntington Beach to a 3-2 victory over Manhattan Beach Mira Costa in a Southern Section Division II first-round playoff game at Huntington Beach.

The Oilers (12-6-1), who will play Woodbridge Wednesday in the second round, also received two goals from Drew McAthy.

In other Division II games:

El Dorado 3, Orange 0--Matt Pena, Jay Larsen and Ryan Valdez had goals for top-seeded El Dorado (21-1-3).

Foothill 4, Irvine 0--David McAulay scored twice and Eric Barbour and Rafael Elias also scored for host Fullerton (16-7-3). Goalie Brandon Shaver recorded his eighth shutout by making 12 saves.

Mater Dei 3, Corona 0--Randy Poggio scored twice and Juan Gutierrez once for third-seeded Mater Dei (21-2-4).

Villa Park 1, Loara 1 (Villa Park advances on penalty kicks, 5-4)--Sophomore Shawn Graham netted the decisive penalty kick for Villa Park, which will play Mater Dei Wednesday in the second round. The Spartans recorded their first playoff victory in eight years.

Woodbridge 3, Riverside Arlington 0--Brad Halack and Pieter Berger scored first-half goals for host Woodbridge (18-4-4). Brandon Novoa scored in the second half for the Warriors.

In Division III:

Brea Olinda 2, Pomona Garey 0--Juan Guerrero and Graig Ward each scored a goal as fourth-seeded Brea Olinda (23-1-3) won at home.

Santa Margarita 4, Valencia 0--Matt Holtrust scored twice and Chasen Armour and Mike Losordo also scored for third-seeded Santa Margarita (20-4-3).

Goalie Erick Foss made three saves and got his 17th shutout of the season.

Santiago 1, Kennedy 0--Edgar Mendoza scored in the 25th minute for Santiago (18-5-3).

Kennedy finished 11-12-4.

Sonora 4, Los Altos 0--Kyle Warsinski had two goals and an assist and Nick Ross and Daniel Siapin scored for host Sonora (17-4-2), which plays Santiago in the second round.

In Division IV:

Costa Mesa 3, Azusa 0--Bernardo Falci scored two goals and Trini Hernandez had one for Costa Mesa (14-5-1). Bryce Sheridan stopped five shots for the Mustangs.

Northwood 3, Rosemead Don Bosco 0--Scott Bandaruk scored in the sixth minute and Benny Feilhaber and Gabe Schneider scored in the second half for Northwood (13-9-2), which recorded its first playoff victory in boys’ soccer.

Mike Giese had nine saves for his third consecutive shutout.

In Division V:

Ontario Christian 2, Calvary Chapel 1--Brent Vander Eyk scored his second goal in the second half to win it for visiting Ontario Christian (17-6-1).

Taylor Hill scored in the first half for Calvary Chapel (9-12-1).

St. Margaret’s 5, Riverside Bethel Christian 0--Erik Hallenbeck had two goals and an assist and Matt Sauter and Jared Connan had a goal and an assist for second-seeded St. Margaret’s (15-4-1).
