He failed to yield at a stop sign at Paula Street and was hit by a 1997 Mitsubishi Montero that was eastbound on Channel Islands Boulevard, Officer Ernie Orozco of the Oxnard Police Department said.

The driver, Amber Osborn, 25, of Simi Valley, was not injured, Orozco said. Osborn’s 2-year-old daughter, Paris, was also uninjured, he said.

Osborn was traveling within the 35-mph speed limit and was not cited, Orozco said.

After sustaining serious head injuries, Lopez-Zuniga was put on a life-support machine, officials said.
