Canyon 2, Marina 1--Rocky Roquet and Sean Driscoll combined on a four-hitter for the Comanches (1-0), who scored the winning run on an error. Second baseman Eric Sadhiro had an RBI for Marina (0-1).

Dana Hills 8, Edison 5--Matt Cooper’s three-run homer highlighted a five-run seventh for Dana Hills. Cooper also had a solo home run earlier in the game for the Dolphins.

El Dorado 11, University 5--Joe Turgeon, Brian Jackson and Brett Carlin had two RBIs each as El Dorado beat visiting University, ranked fourth in the Times’ preseason poll.

Irvine 2, Anaheim 0--Dan Beuchat doubled home the winning run, Derek Smith pitched a two-hitter and Jon de Vries homered and doubled for the Vaqueros (1-0). Anaheim is 0-1.

Santa Margarita 2, Loara 1--Chris Malec homered and Kyle Massey drove in the game-winner with a fifth-inning sacrifice fly for the Eagles.

Servite 5, El Toro 4--Servite’s Doug Middleton hit a two-run, two-out triple in the bottom of the fifth inning to put the Friars up, 5-4.

In the Costa Mesa/Foothill tournament:

Bolsa Grande 4, Cerritos 3--Steve Ashmore doubled home the winning run in the seventh for the Matadors (1-0).

Capistrano Valley 13, Foothill 3--Brandon Jackson went three for four with three runs batted in for visiting Capistrano Valley (1-0).

Corona del Mar 6, Magnolia 0--Left-hander Nick Rhodes, a sophomore pitching in his first varsity contest, threw a complete game three-hitter and struck out nine for the Sea Kings.

Mater Dei 6, Sonora 2--Sonora’s Jon Muromoto hit a two-run home run in the top of the fifth to put the Raiders up, 2-1, but Mater Dei tied it in the bottom of the inning, and broke it open with four runs in the sixth.

In the North Orange County tournament:

Mission Viejo 12, Santa Ana Valley 2--Collin Ashton homered twice and drove in four runs and Dain Hansen added two hits and four RBIs for the visiting Diablos (1-0). Robert Padilla and Gus Navarro each drove in two runs for Santa Ana Valley (0-1).
