Perram, Rosenthal Receive Section Awards

DeDe Perram and Jason Rosenthal of division-champion Agoura High were selected player of the year and coach of the year, respectively, in Southern Section Division II girls’ water polo.

Erica Clark, Joanna Antonsen and Colleen Schiman of Agoura, Dolores Johnson of Ventura and Jennifer Nantroup of Royal were chosen to the All-Division II team.

Graziella Caredda, Cameron Pearce and Chelsey Hutchinson of Agoura were selected to the second team, as were Elizabeth Derse of Ventura, Carrie Karamas of Royal and Cori Raffaelli of Oxnard.

Missy Gorman of Agoura was named to the third team along with Jessica Nicholas and Amy Simpson of Ventura, Hollis Reilly and Jennifer Palmberg of Royal, Sarah Broome of Rio Mesa and Danielle Rios of Buena.

Paloma Slezak and Courtney Quinn of Harvard-Westlake, Amy Brunton and Megan Winchell of Crescenta Valley, Mariah Zebrowski of La Canada and Molley Feeney of Alemany were selected to the All-Division III team.

Meg Zepfel of Harvard-Westlake, Jesse Stiles of Crescenta Valley, Justine Nyby of La Canada, Sammy Zuckerman of Notre Dame and Erica Bonetti of Burroughs were named to the second team.

Emily Caesar of Harvard-Westlake, Leslie Muelder of La Canada, Erin Knowles of Burroughs, Trisha Prudencio of Notre Dame and Ilana Lopez of Crescenta Valley were named to the third team.

* Derse, Johnson and Rios were selected to the All-Channel League team.

BASEBALL

* Dan Haren and Noah Lowry of Pepperdine were selected West Coast Conference player and pitcher of the month for February.

Haren, a junior pitcher-designated hitter, batted .413--hitting safely in nine of 12 games--with four doubles, his first college home run and 14 runs batted in. He also was 3-0 with a 2.14 earned-run average and one save. In 21 innings, he struck out 20 and walked two.

Lowry, a junior left-hander from Nordhoff High and Ventura College, was 4-0 with a 1.01 ERA. In 26 2/3 innings, he struck out 30, walked 10 and limited opponents to a .196 batting average.

BASKETBALL

* Carrie Miller, a junior forward at Adams State who attended Valley College, earned an All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference West Division honorable mention.

Miller averaged 11.3 points and led the Grizzlies in rebounding at 8.4.

* Tryouts for the West Coast Waves’ 15-and-under and 17-and-under teams are scheduled for Sunday at Cal Lutheran.

The 15-and-under tryouts will run from 4:30-6 p.m., with the 17-and-under tryouts from 6-8 p.m.

SOFTBALL

* Brigham Young freshman Oli Keohohou, formerly of Newbury Park High, was named Mountain West Conference player of the week.

Keohohou hit two home runs in the Cougars’ 7-6 upset of No. 12 Washington in the Red Desert Classic last week. In four games, the outfielder was five for 10 with four home runs, six RBIs and four runs scored.

* Lake Casitas was stocked with 2,000 pounds of catchable-sized rainbow trout on Tuesday.
