No. 2 Fountain Valley Sweeps San Clemente

Nate Hagstrom had 35 kills and Russell Holmes had 14 kills and 10 blocks to help second-ranked Fountain Valley to a three-game sweep of No. 10 San Clemente in nonleague boys’ volleyball Friday. The visiting Barons (2-2) won, 15-11, 15-6, 15-9.

Nick Gardner had 15 kills for San Clemente (2-2), which lost its second consecutive match this week after falling to No. 8 Marina.

In other nonleague volleyball:

Dana Hills 3, No. 9 Edison 0--Dana Hills’ Travis Nelson had 11 kills, 15 digs and seven assists as the host Dolphins (4-1) upset the Chargers, 15-4, 15-9, 15-11. Sean McLaren had 10 kills for Edison (3-3).

Valencia 3, Kennedy 0--Chris Franklin had 18 kills and Dan Bonkoski 10 in Valencia’s 15-6, 15-11, 15-9 victory. Mike Euguchi had 10 kills for Kennedy (0-3). Valencia is 3-5.

Woodbridge 3, Servite 1--Casey Armstrong had 17 kills and Greg Seile had 53 assists for Woodbridge (3-3), which won, 15-5, 15-6, 11-15, 15-1. Sebastian Zielonka had 12 kills for Servite (5-3).

In nonleague boys’ golf:

Kennedy 195, La Habra 228--Scott Sperry and Sean Kapp each shot two-over par 38 to take medalist honors for Kennedy (8-2) at Lakewood.

In nonleague boys’ swimming:

Servite 114, Brea Olinda 56--Servite freshman Adam Hewko recorded Southern Section Division I qualifying times in the 200 individual medley (2 minutes 3.50 seconds) and the 100 freestyle (50.98).

Kyle Price won the 50 freestyle (23.41) and 100 butterfly (55.65) for the Friars (2-1).

In nonleague girls’ swimming:

Woodbridge 119, Orange 46--Woodbridge won every event, led by Sarah Grant who won the 500 freestyle in 5:30.94 and swam in three winning relays, including a 56.15 final leg in the 400 freestyle relay to bring Woodbridge from behind to victory in that event.

In nonleague boys’ tennis:

No. 10 Capistrano Valley 12, Pasadena Poly 6--The No. 1 doubles team of Matthew Sherman and Chad Wallace won two sets (3-6, 6-2, 6-0) for Capistrano Valley (4-0).
