Long Beach Beats Fullerton in 16th

Corry Parrott’s run-scoring single in the bottom of the 16th inning Saturday gave Long Beach State a 3-2 victory over Cal State Fullerton in a nonconference baseball game at Blair Field.
Parrott’s single to right field with one out scored Todd Jennings from third, ending the 5-hour 5-minute game.
In Golden State Athletic Conference baseball:
Azusa Pacific 12-15, Concordia 9-1--Seven Eagle pitchers allowed 27 runs and 38 hits to the NAIA’s 16th-ranked team. Jeff Curcio hit two home runs for Concordia (13-14, 4-8) in the first game. Azusa Pacific is 20-3, 11-3.
Biola 10-8, Vanguard 4-14--Chad Chop homered twice and the Lions scored eight seventh-inning runs in the second game to earn the split. Vanguard is 20-10, 8-6. Biola is 22-4, 12-3.
In nonconference softball:
Cal State Fullerton 9-5, Sacramento State 2-2--Julie Watson’s three-run triple in the second game Saturday helped Fullerton sweep a doubleheader at Sacramento.
Watson’s triple broke a 2-2 tie in the seventh inning, giving the Titans (29-8, 2-0) a 5-2 victory.
Sacramento (9-16, 0-2) loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh before Titan reliever Gina Oaks got a strikeout and pop fly to end the rally.
In the Golden State Athletic Conference:
Hope International 5-13, Cal Baptist 4-19--Trailing, 4-3, in the seventh inning of the first game, Hope International (7-17, 1-9) got consecutive singles from Alicia Fazio, Lorie Mapes and Cori McDonald before the tying and winning runs scored on an error. Cal Baptist (7-21, 2-6) scored 10 runs in the top of the sixth inning to come from behind and win the second game.
