North Hollywood 4, Verdugo Hills 3--Mia Lee defeated Maureen Rantung, 8-7 (5), at No. 4 singles to give the Huskies (7-0, 3-0 in league) a Sunset Six League victory over the defending league champion Dons (5-1, 2-1).

In boys’ water polo:

Newport Beach Newport Harbor 7, Laguna Beach 5--Newport Harbor, No. 8 in the Times’ rankings, trailed, 5-3, at halftime, but two goals by Michael Vanderburg and one each from Ross Sinclair and Michael Bury lifted the Sailors (9-6) to a nonleague victory.
