* Westminster defeated Tustin, 42-41.
The Tillers lost their Golden West League opener after missing a 20-yard field-goal attempt on final possession. Westminster receiver Akilah Lacey caught six passes for 209 yards with three touchdowns.
* Culver City defeated Palos Verdes Peninsula, 34-27.
Sosaia Sekona scored on a one-yard run with 55 seconds left to put the Centaurs ahead, 28-27. Michael Hooper blocked a 52-yard field-goal attempt with seven seconds remaining and Sean Lyons returned the ball 65 yards for a touchdown.
It was Culver City’s first victory over Peninsula at any level of football, Coach Tom Salter said.
