North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake 5, Santa Ana Foothill 4--The Wolverines held Foothill scoreless in the first half and held on for a nonleague victory at Tustin.

Martie Mathies, Kevin Schwimer and Travis Warner scored first-half goals for Harvard-Westlake, but Foothill cut the lead to one on goals by Frank Reynolds and Alex Cripe.

Warner scored his second goal a few minutes later before Cripe answered with 1:26 remaining in the third quarter.

Harvard-Westlake (4-0), went ahead, 5-3, on a goal by Eddie Berman with 2:17 remaining.

Kevin Logan scored for Foothill (6-2) with 57 seconds left.

Huntington Beach Edison 13, Irvine University 8--Cody Tague scored four goals and had six steals, and Matt Budnick added three goals for the Chargers in a nonleague victory at University.

Kyle Celinder had eight saves for Edison (8-4).

Lake Forest El Toro 8, Anaheim Esperanza 4--Geoff Wright had three goals, and Danny Pierson and Matt Grace had two each for El Toro (5-3), which led, 5-2, at halftime.

Santa Ana Mater Dei d. Newport Harbor, 15-5, 15-9, 15-5--Ashley Bayer had 16 kills and Whitney Pavlik added 15 for the top-ranked Monarchs in a nonleague victory at Newport Harbor.

North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake d. Torrance Bishop Montgomery, 16-14, 15-9, 13-15, 8-15, 15-2--Bishop Montgomery rallied to force a fifth game, but Harvard-Westlake regrouped and won a nonleague match at Bishop Montgomery.

Anaheim Esperanza d. La Habra, 15-11, 15-7, 15-10--Kristy Chester had 14 kills for visiting Esperanza (4-1).

In girls’ tennis:

Granada Hills 7, Van Nuys 0--Nationally ranked Jessica Nguyen led the Highlanders with an 8-0 victory over Fontip Seeboonruang.

Robin Meselson and Rachya Sreepathi of Granada Hills defeated Catherine Obedoza and Alina Lieberman, 8-1.
