A $2,000 reward is being offered after the fatal shooting of a dog known for cheering up patients at a hospital.

Jeb, an 11-year-old Labrador mix, was shot with a pellet gun Sept. 22 in his owner’s Donner Summit neighborhood west of Truckee.

The dog was well known because of his involvement in the local Humane Society’s Pet Assisted Therapy Program since June 2000. Through the program, animals are taken into patients’ rooms at Tahoe Forest Hospital.
