It’s a Busy Night for Trainer Gomez

Share

Each and every night, Los Alamitos is offering more 2-year-old races.

The new week begins with three of the eight contests featuring juveniles, including the opener, the third and the fifth.

As usual, trainer Jaime Gomez will be prominent in the baby races. He entered five in the three races, beginning with Dreams To Fill, a first-time starter who will debut for a $12,500 claiming price in the first at 300 yards.

A daughter of Dash Thru Traffic, Dreams To Fill will leave from the rail and will be ridden by Jesus Vallejo. Owned by Dutch Masters III, she worked in 12.80 seconds from the gate a week ago.

In the third, also at 300 yards, Gomez will be represented by the Dutch Masters-owned entry of Flys R Streakin and Launch Code.

Both 2-year-olds are by the sire Strawfly Special and have worked well.

Gomez will saddle two more in the fifth--also at 300 yards--in Toasting My Dad, a Special Task gelding, and That Giver, a gelding by Dash Thru Traffic.

The picks: 1. A Choice Effort. 2. Oreo Speedwagn HF. 3. Flys R Streakin. 4. Zipolator. 5. That Giver. 6. Lord Triagain. 7. BW Old Smokey. 8. Oh Just Lucky.

Four! In the first, let’s use Dreams To Fill, Run For Shelter, Tinys Royal Hugger and A Choice Effort, Oreo Speedwagn HF and Amazing Proof in the second, single the entry of Launch Code and Flys R Streakin in the third, and Zipolator, Old Richmond and Silverio Time in the fourth. Total cost: $24.

Shots in the dark: Run Cielo Run could get the right pace setup in tonight’s sixth at 41/2 furlongs and Uncas Sister could improve second after a layoff for trainer Dan Francisco in the eighth at 300 yards.

Post time: 7:15 p.m.
