Police said Saturday that they are following several tips in the reported disappearance of a 2-year-old boy from a public park.

Jahi Turner was reported missing by his stepfather, Tieray Jones, 23, who said the boy disappeared Thursday while he left him alone for 15 minutes to get a soft drink.

Police are seeking a woman reported by Jones to have been in the park at the same time.

After an all-day search Friday that included tracker dogs and a helicopter, police said they are classifying the case as a kidnapping because they believe a toddler could not have wandered beyond the search area.

The boy’s mother, Tameka Jones, 18, is an enlisted sailor who was at sea when the boy was reported missing. She was brought back to San Diego by helicopter to aid in the search. The boy had arrived in San Diego on April 21 after living with his maternal grandmother in Maryland.

Jahi is a light-skinned African American. He was reported wearing a long-sleeve blue shirt with a Winnie the Pooh design and a brand of Michael Jordan sneakers.
