Deuce McAllister had 70 total yards as the New Orleans Saints beat the Dolphins, 24-7, Thursday night in an exhibition game at Miami. The Saints held Ricky Williams to 17 yards rushing in eight carries in his first game against his former team.

McAllister ran 11 times for 42 yards and caught three passes for 28 yards--all in the first half--and helped New Orleans build a 17-0 lead midway through the second quarter. The Saints also got plenty of assistance from the mistake-prone Dolphins.

Jay Fiedler had three passes intercepted in the first half, and Miami had a special-teams breakdown for the second time in as many games. The Dolphins also were penalized eight times for 54 yards in the first half.

Fiedler, who missed much of training camp following hip surgery, regressed in his second start in a four-day span.

He completed eight of 19 passes for 83 yards. Although he was under heavy pressure for much of the half, Fiedler was off target on many passes. He played six series on a night when he was supposed to go 20 plays, staying in the game to try to work through his mistakes.

Tennessee 24, Oakland 14--Steve McNair threw a 34-yard touchdown pass to Derrick Mason and the Titans added two more touchdowns in the first quarter after Raider turnovers at Nashville.

The Titans scored within the span of 12 seconds and added a third less than nine minutes into the first quarter.

Playing their second road exhibition in six days, the Raiders lost four turnovers, allowed three sacks and were penalized nine times.

The Titans announced that defensive end Jevon Kearse will sit out the final two exhibition games and possibly the season opener because of a strained triceps muscle in his left arm. He injured the arm Tuesday during practice.

New York Jets 34, Baltimore 16--Vinny Testaverde threw for 129 yards and a touchdown in only three series, and LaMont Jordan ran for two third-quarter scores for the Jets at Baltimore.

Javin Hunter returned a kickoff 99 yards for the Ravens, who managed only three points against the Jets’ first-team defense. Jamal Lewis ran for 24 yards in four carries in his first game since the 2001 Super Bowl.

New York turned three Baltimore turnovers into 17 points, including a 40-yard interception return for a touchdown by Andrew Davison.

Testaverde completed nine for 12 passes, leading the Jets to a touchdown and a field goal in his first two series and moving them into field-goal range in his final drive. In two exhibition games, he is 15 for 20 for 190 yards with no interceptions.

Testaverde threw a 31-yard touchdown pass to Laveranues Coles and completed four passes to Wayne Chrebet for 87 yards before leaving late in the first half with the Jets ahead, 10-3.
