MEN

Loyola Marymount (3-2) at UC Irvine (1-2), 7, KUCI (88.9), KXLU (88.9) -- These are two teams at opposite ends of the spectrum. Youthful Loyola Marymount has had major contributions from two sophomores and four freshmen, including freshman guard Brandon Worthy, who comes off the bench to lead the team in scoring (11.4 points). Irvine is loaded with veterans who are not playing up to expectations, most notably 7-foot center Adam Parada (foul trouble) and forwards Stanislav Zuzak and Jordan Harris (inconsistent shooting).

Pepperdine (1-2) at CS Fullerton (1-2), 7, KWRM (1370), KPLS (870) -- Fullerton presents some matchup problems in the post for the Waves, who have struggled in rebounding since 6-10 junior center Will Kimble ended his career after being diagnosed with a heart ailment and 6-9 forward Glen McGowan was injured. Pepperdine was outrebounded, 34-26, in Monday’s 65-63 victory at Long Beach. Fullerton, with 6-10 Pape Sow in the middle, took a 46-33 advantage in rebounds in Monday’s 74-56 victory over visiting Morris Brown.

CS Northridge (2-2) at San Diego (3-0), 7, KCSN (88.5) -- It will be tough for the visiting Matadors to get Coach Bobby Braswell his 100th career victory against San Diego, which won in overtime at UCLA last week, 86-81. The Toreros also made their first 15 shots and finished with a school single-game record for field-goal percentage (70.5%) in an 84-64 win at UC Riverside. Ian Boylan averages 16.5 points for Northridge.

Long Beach State (1-3) at Southern Utah (1-2), 6, KRLA (870, 7, delayed) -- The 49ers are squeezing in a trip to Cedar City between Monday night’s loss to Pepperdine, and Sunday’s game with UCLA at Pauley Pavilion. This is the first meeting between the 49ers and the Thunderbirds, who are hosting the second of six consecutive home games.

WOMEN

USC (3-2) at Pepperdine (4-2), 8 -- There’s little chance the Trojans are looking ahead to Sunday’s meeting with defending national champion Connecticut. Pepperdine has never beaten USC (0-14), but has the capability to end that streak. The Waves are playing their fifth straight home game and have won the last two, including last Saturday’s overtime victory against Wisconsin. USC was beaten last Friday by Notre Dame, its second loss to a top-10 team.
