An 18-year-old high school dropout with a history of violent crime has been arrested in the killing of an 80-year-old jazz trombonist who was the city’s 100th homicide victim this year.

Dontaye Harris is accused of murdering Taswell Baird Jr.

Police say the security camera of a local supermarket recorded Harris watching Baird as he shopped. The suspect, who may have had accomplices, allegedly followed Baird outside. As the victim rounded a corner in his electric wheelchair, he was kicked and punched. The killer fled with about $80.
