5 Suits Against County Over El Toro Are Settled
From Times Staff Reports
Five lawsuits filed over the county’s aborted plans to build an airport at the closed El Toro Marine base have been settled, the parties announced Friday.
Two suits challenged the county’s environmental reviews of the airport plan; two others protested the spending of $8 million for a public information campaign.
A final suit questioned El Toro’s inclusion in regional transportation plans.
The move comes nine months after voters rejected plans for an airport at El Toro, deciding instead to build a park on the closed Marine base.
