Operations Likely to Stay Downtown, LAPD Says

Los Angeles Police Department managers said Monday it is unlikely they could move any major police functions out of the downtown headquarters into the San Fernando Valley as part of plans to replace Parker Center.
Bill Moran, commanding officer of the LAPD’s fiscal support bureau, said he and Chief William J. Bratton concluded all major functions in Parker Center should remain centrally located.
Meanwhile, chief legislative analyst Ron Deaton told a city panel it would be cheaper to build a new headquarters on city land at 1st and Alameda streets or 1st and Spring streets than rebuild on the existing site.
