A look at the preseason top 10 boys’ swim teams in the Southland:

1. Newport Harbor (SS-Div. I)

Sailors won’t need to depend entirely on Olympic silver medalist Aaron Peirsol, who won Division I titles in the 200 freestyle and 100 backstroke last season. They also return three swimmers from division-winning 400 freestyle relay team.

2. Irvine (SS-Div. I)

Graduation took its toll on the two-time defending Division I champions, who lost their entire 200- and 400-freestyle relay teams that took second in Division I finals, but the Vaqueros will still contend.

3. San Clemente (SS-Div. I)

The Tritons have a strong junior class, led by Kenny Yamamoto, who finished second in the 200 individual medley at Division I finals and helped the 200 medley relay team finish seventh.
