2 Killed, 4 Injured as Van Hits Freeway Divider

A 7-year-old girl and a 30-year-old man were killed early Thursday when the minivan they were in lost control, struck a freeway center divider and spun out, police said.

Edith Tobar of Huntington Park and Francisco Munoz of Los Angeles died, an 11-year-old girl was critically injured and three other people suffered minor injuries in the 2:25 a.m. crash on the westbound San Bernardino Freeway west of Indian Hill Boulevard, said Officer Spencer Ammons of the California Highway Patrol.

Eight people were in the 1991 Toyota minivan when it crashed, Ammons said. Neither of the dead was wearing a seat belt, he said.
