Pro-Freeway Group Asks Judge to Dismiss Lawsuit
A pro-freeway group from the San Gabriel Valley filed a motion Thursday in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles, asking for dismissal of a lawsuit that challenges the proposed Long Beach Freeway extension.
Bonifacio Bonny Garcia, the group’s attorney, said an injunction against planning the extension through El Sereno, South Pasadena and Pasadena has meant that Alhambra and other cities see 100,000 cars dumped onto surface streets daily because of the freeway gap between the San Bernardino and Foothill freeways.
The 34 individuals, mostly elected officials, and the city of Alhambra want to throw out a 7-year-old anti-freeway lawsuit that the El Sereno Neighborhood Action Committee filed against the California Department of Transportation.
Another anti-freeway lawsuit by the city of South Pasadena is pending.
