800-Gallon Sewage Spill Closes Portion of Bay
A sewage spill Monday forced closure of a quarter mile of Newport Bay to swimmers and divers, authorities said. The spill was caused by a blocked pipe in the city’s sewage system.
The bay was closed from Carnation Cove to Harbor Patrol Beach and will remain shut until bacteria levels return to acceptable levels.
