Extra $200,000 OKd for Ahmanson Ranch Study
Ventura County supervisors approved a $200,000 increase in compensation Tuesday for consultants working on an environmental study of the 3,050-home Ahmanson Ranch housing project.
The report’s initial cost was pegged at $100,000. But that was before Ventura County officials received 6,000 pages of public comments on the proposed subdivision, many of them challenging the adequacy of the study.
Ventura-based Rincon Consultants must now respond to each of those comments, a time-consuming process that will push the total price of the study to $300,000, officials said.
Developer Ahmanson Land Co. has said it will reimburse the county for the additional expense.
