Bones found buried at a Canyon Country home were not human remains, coroner’s investigators determined Thursday.

“After examination, they were confirmed to be nonhuman,” county coroner spokesman David Campbell said.

Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies discovered the animal bones Wednesday after responding to a call about explosives and shots fired on a property in the 14800 block of Sierra Highway, Deputy David Cervantes said.

Christopher William Elmore, 27, of Canyon Country and Timothy Lewis McKenzie, 50, of Newhall were arrested on outstanding felony narcotics warrants, Cervantes said.

Deputies discovered a bunker on the property containing several hundred rounds of ammunition, a homemade cannon, surveillance equipment and a small amount of drugs.

While digging for more weapons, the deputies unearthed the bones, Cervantes said.

Elmore is being held in lieu of $27,500 bail and McKenzie in lieu of $76,000 bail at the Santa Clarita sheriff’s station jail.
