Sewage-Line Tear Causes Traffic Snarl But No Spill
A portion of Katella Avenue at Douglass Road was closed Thursday afternoon after a tear in a sewage line caused the pavement to buckle. Crews dug a 15-foot-by-15-foot hole to repair the line. The buckling was causing by dirt being drawn into the tear, officials said, but no sewage leaked.
The work lasted several hours and caused a tie-up for fans leaving the Angels game at Anaheim Stadium, as well as for those arriving for the evening’s performance of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey circus at the Arrowhead Pond, and rush-hour commuters using the Katella Avenue onramp to the Orange Freeway.
