Illegal Waste Storage Costs Firms $1 Million

The CENCO Refining Co. and the Powerine Oil Co. have agreed to a $1-million penalty for the illegal storage of hazardous waste at a closed refinery on Lakeland Road, state officials announced.
The penalty includes a $900,000 fine and $100,000 to cover costs incurred by the state in investigating the case.
