From Times Staff Reports

Thousand Oaks will let biotech giant Amgen remove 33 oak trees to develop its main entrance.

The city requires council approval when four or more oak trees are to be removed. The council approved Amgen’s plan to remove seven trees immediately, 12 within a year and the rest by 2005.

Amgen will donate the oaks to the city and other public agencies for transplanting and will pay more than $59,000 to remove, store, transport and replant them.
