AVENGERS TONIGHT

Share

at Toronto, 4 PDT

Site--Air Canada Centre.

Radio--KMPC (1540).

Records--Avengers 6-4, Phantoms 5-5.

Record vs. Phantoms--First meeting.

Update--A victory would be the Avengers’ third in a row and would guarantee them their first .500 season. But the team has a bigger goal: hosting its first Arena playoff game. The Phantoms, who last year won the Eastern Division in their initial Arena season, are still in the playoff picture but had lost four of five before defeating Orlando, 47-34, last week. Los Angeles posted its largest ever margin of victory in a 62-32 win over Carolina. Avenger quarterback Tony Graziani (2,589 yards, 50 touchdowns) will test the league’s stingiest defense; Toronto is giving up 41.7 points a game. The Phantoms’ talented secondary will have its hands full stopping the receiving tandem of Chris Jackson, who leads the league with 26 touchdowns and 158 points, and Greg Hopkins, who leads the league with 78 receptions and is a leading candidate for the Ironman of the Year award given to the league’s top two-way player.
