Peninsula Runner Vince Commits to Yale

Emily Vince of Palos Verdes Peninsula, the 2001 Southern Section Division I girls’ cross-country champion, has committed to Yale.

Vince, runner-up in the state Division I cross-country final in November, placed eighth in the 3,200 meters in the state track championships last year.

She has been slowed by anemia this season, but will run in the 3,200 in the Division I final of the Southern Section track championships at Cerritos College on Saturday.

Other commitments:

* Saul Lankster, a 6-foot-5 guard on Compton Centennial’s state Division III runner-up boys’ basketball team, has signed with Cal State Dominguez Hills.

* Aaron Tudor, who averaged 19.7 points for the Mission Viejo Trabuco Hills boys’ basketball team, has committed to Westmont. P.J. Sandoval, a pitcher/infielder for the Mustangs’ baseball team, has signed with Biola.

* Courtney Thom, the leading scorer for the San Clemente girls’ water polo team, which reached the quarterfinals of the Southern Section Division I playoffs, has committed to Indiana. Lauren Boissevain, who helped the Tritons to the Division I-A title in girls’ volleyball, has committed to Saint Louis University.
