* Moreno Valley, which passed for only 512 yards and three touchdowns during the regular season in its triple-option offense, totaled 231 in the air and three touchdowns in a 31-24 overtime victory over Lake Elsinore Temescal Canyon in Division V. Michael Lewis completed four of six passes for 200 yards, including touchdowns of 70 and 80 yards.

* Randall Brown of Hacienda Heights Los Altos, the top-seeded team in Division VI, scored six times on runs of 10, 11, 65, 11, 10 and five yards in a 49-0 victory over Anaheim Canyon.

COMEBACKS

* Whittier Pioneer trailed, 21-6, with seven minutes left but got two scoring passes from Ricky Reyes to Michael Bojorquez to tie the score, then beat Alhambra in overtime, 28-21, on Reyes’ 25-yard keeper in Division VII.

* Placentia Valencia trailed Newport Harbor, 21-0, before scoring 28 in a row. Still, the Tigers needed a 32-yard touchdown pass from Steve Lajkowicz to Nathan Dedic with 59 seconds left to win, 35-28, in Division VI.

* Brian Harbin rushed for his second touchdown, a three-yarder, with 2:48 left to give second-seeded Saddleback Valley Christian a 14-10 victory over Palos Verdes Chadwick in Division XIII.

UPSETS

* Irvine University defeated third-seeded Anaheim Western, 37-20, in Division IX. Nick Gerakos completed 19 of 23 passes for 277 yards, and Koji Chavez rushed for three scores.

* Covina overcame a 10-point third-quarter deficit and defeated fourth-seeded Irvine Northwood, 34-31, in Division IX.
