Philadelphia quarterback Koy Detmer is expected to be out two to five weeks because of a dislocated left elbow.

Detmer, playing in place of the injured Donovan McNabb, was injured in the third quarter of the Eagles’ 38-17 victory over the San Francisco 49ers on Monday night.

An MRI exam on Wednesday revealed no ligament damage.

A.J. Feeley, a fifth-round pick last season who started only eight games at Oregon, takes over as the starter and Tim Hasselbeck, who was on the practice squad, becomes the backup. Former Pittsburgh quarterback Tee Martin was signed to the practice squad.

Pittsburgh quarterback Kordell Stewart took most of the snaps at practice, a strong sign that he’ll start for the Steelers on Sunday at Jacksonville.

Tommy Maddox, Pittsburgh’s starter until an injury Nov. 17 at Tennessee that left him briefly paralyzed, said he’s ready to play but doctors have advised him to take another week off.

Stewart isn’t ready to read anything into what happened at practice.

“The only indication that is going to allow me to know if I’m starting on Sunday is if Coach [Bill] Cowher says it,” Stewart said.

St. Louis quarterback Kurt Warner showed up at practice with his throwing hand wrapped in a plastic bag filled with ice.

But ice was more of a precaution for Warner, who sat out five games because of a broken pinkie.

Warner threw well in practice despite the sore hand, but didn’t take any snaps.

Denver quarterback Brian Griese and tight end Shannon Sharpe made it through practice without any setbacks and could be ready for Sunday’s game against San Diego.

Griese sprained his left knee against Seattle on Nov. 17. Sharpe had been expected to be out for at least a month after partially dislocating his right elbow against Oakland on Nov. 11.

Chicago quarterback Jim Miller couldn’t throw during practice, but insists he’ll be ready Sunday at Green Bay.

Miller, who hasn’t thrown in practice for two weeks, might even sit out pregame warmups at Lambeau Field, hoping not to overextend his arm.

Miller has shoulder and elbow tendinitis. He replaced Chris Chandler in the third quarter Sunday and led the Bears to a 20-17 overtime victory over Detroit.

Chandler has a sore ankle and is not expected to be ready.

Dallas put safety Darren Woodson on injured reserve because of an abdominal injury, meaning he won’t play again this season.

Woodson, who has more tackles than any Cowboy in history, was injured in the Cowboys’ 20-3 loss to Indianapolis on Nov. 17.

The Cowboys filled his roster spot Tuesday by signing rookie Woody Dantzler off the practice squad.

Dantzler, a former standout quarterback at Clemson, will return kicks today against Washington.

Cincinnati released receiver Michael Westbrook, ending his short and unhappy stay with the NFL’s worst team.

Westbrook, 30, was among the Bengals’ top off-season acquisitions, along with former Washington Redskin teammate Gus Frerotte.

Frerotte lost the starting quarterback job after only three games and Westbrook never made much of an impact on an offense that has gone through three starting quarterbacks.

Minnesota running back Michael Bennett, who sprained an ankle against New England, was upgraded to probable for the Vikings’ game against Atlanta.

New York Giant quarterback Kerry Collins walked off the field at practice because of a back spasm.

Collins, on the verge of making his 50th consecutive regular-season start for the Giants, downplayed the problem, saying he intended to be at work today.

The last Giant quarterback to start 50 regular-season games in a row was Phil Simms from 1984-87.

Houston quarterback David Carr, limping slightly on his left ankle, was listed as probable and said he expects to play Sunday at Indianapolis.

Carr, the No. 1 overall draft pick this year, slightly sprained his left ankle in Houston’s 16-14 victory over the Giants.

Former Dallas kicker Richie Cunningham was signed by Jacksonville to replace another former Cowboy, Tim Seder, who was released Tuesday after missing four of 12 field-goal attempts in five games.

Cunningham has been out of the league for the last two seasons after a five-year career.
