SOUTHERN SECTION

Corona Centennial (3-0) at San Clemente (3-0), 7:30 p.m., Friday

The numbers-crunchers at calpreps.com have deemed Centennial the Southern Section team most likely to go undefeated during the regular season. And it’s easy to see why they did. Terrell Jackson leads Southern California in scoring with 14 touchdowns and has averaged 222 yards rushing. Quarterback Shaun Lewis has completed 69.1% of his passes for 534 yards and four touchdowns. But if the Huskies, winners of 20 consecutive regular-season games and No. 10 in The Times’ rankings, are to run the table, they’ll have to get past 13th-ranked San Clemente, which has multitalented receiver Chris Miller, tailback Cheyne Verhagen, who has 255 yards rushing, and quarterback Beau Budde, who rarely throws a bad pass.

*Chino Hills Ayala (3-0) at Los Altos (2-1), 7:30 p.m., Friday

The defense of No. 24 Ayala has allowed only two touchdowns in the last 10 quarters and stopped Long Beach Jordan’s quick-strike offense last week in a 37-12 victory. Neither team can afford turnovers. Eleventh-ranked Los Altos has scored 152 points in three games, so Ayala’s wing-T offense must control the clock and keep the ball from quarterback Carlos Ordonez, who has averaged 21.2 yards per completion with eight touchdowns and only two interceptions.

CITY SECTION

Dorsey (1-2) at Roosevelt (3-0), 7 p.m., Friday

A victory ushers Roosevelt into the City’s upper echelon. The Rough Riders’ bread and butter is their running game out of the wing-T formation. Zach Owens and Jody Adewale have combined to rush for 1,092 yards. But Dorsey held No. 7 Santa Margarita without a touchdown for the first time in three seasons and recorded four sacks in a 5-0 defeat last week. The Dons have limited three opponents to 14.5 points per game. Dorsey has won the last two meetings by a combined 11 points.

Antelope Valley (3-0) vs. L.A. Loyola (3-0) at Santa Monica College, 7:30 p.m., Friday

Quarterback Johnny Walker has rushed for 447 yards in the Antelopes’ triple-option attack. The No. 2 Cubs counter with running back Bo Renaud, who has rushed for 444 yards and seven touchdowns. Renaud had 142 yards and three touchdowns in the 38-6 victory over Pasadena Muir last week. Loyola has allowed 32 points this season.

L.A. Crenshaw (2-1) at Mission Viejo (3-0), 7 p.m., Friday

Crenshaw is seeking its biggest victory over a Southern Section opponent since it upset Loyola, 7-6, in 1999. This game also could be a low-scoring affair, considering No. 4 Mission Viejo posted only a 10-7 victory over Huntington Beach Marina last week and has struggled passing since quarterback Josh Rodarmel went down with a broken collarbone in the opener. Marty Tadman will make his first start at quarterback. Mission Viejo’s strengths are running backs Ryan Holmes (287 yards) and Brandon Johnston (172) and a defense that has limited opponents to 8.7 points per game. Crenshaw’s Daymeion Hughes ran for 131 yards in a 40-0 win over Hawthorne.

*Newhall Hart (2-0-1) at Lake Balboa Birmingham (2-1), 7 p.m., Friday

The scoreboard operator figures to be busy because the teams feature high-powered offenses. Led by quarterback Sean Norton (57% passing, 887 yards) and wide receiver Cody Kase (16 catches, 336 yards), No. 6 Hart is averaging 30 points. Birmingham, averaging 34.3 points, is led by running back Dennis Keyes, quarterback Ryan Lombardo and two-way threat Chad Green. After tying Los Alamitos on a last-second desperation-pass touchdown, Hart dominated Ventura St. Bonaventure and Westlake Village Westlake. Hart sophomore cornerback Ryan Wolfe, who held his own with St. Bonaventure standout receiver Whitney Lewis, will try to contain Green.

Valencia (2-1) at Arroyo Grande (3-0), 7:30 p.m., Friday

Arroyo Grande is the top-ranked team in the Southern Section Division IV poll and ranked No. 12 by The Times, but Coach Jon Huss is fearful of Valencia’s speed. “When we got the film of them, it was obvious they have the kind of speed and athleticism we don’t see very often,” Huss said. “Of course, that’s one of the reasons why we scheduled them.” While No. 20 Valencia, a Division II team that lost to Hart in the Division III final last season, has big-play threats in running back Charles Burnley, quarterback Stephen Wright and wide receivers Geoff Tisdale and Desmond Blair, Arroyo Grande runs a grind-it-out, misdirection offense in which seven or eight players are expected to carry the ball. Huss figures the best way for Arroyo Grande to overcome Valencia’s speed is through turnovers, but he doesn’t expect the Vikings to produce many of those after committing seven in a 28-26 victory over Oxnard last week.
