Former county prosecutor and criminal defense attorney George C. Eskin has been awarded the 2002 Woodruff J. Deem Medal of Justice Award in recognition of his more than 30 years of legal service.

Retiring Ventura County Dist. Atty. Michael D. Bradbury established the award to honor individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the administration of justice. Eskin, 64, served as assistant district attorney to Deem in the 1960s. He was also a trial lawyer, handling civil and criminal matters before retiring in 1997.

“As one who was hired by Woody Deem,” Eskin said, “and who had the utmost admiration for him as a trial attorney and a human being, I am extremely honored that Mike Bradbury has seen fit to perpetuate his memory and to name me as a recipient of this award.”
